A fire broke out in Börrstadt in a harvested grain field covering an area of approximately one hectare. As a result, fire departments from Börrstadt, Steinbach, Imsbach, Falkenstein, Lohnsfeld, Münchweiler, and Winnweiler were dispatched to the scene. The Göllheim Fire Department was also alerted and arrived at the scene with a tanker fire engine.
The first responders from the Börrstadt Fire Department initially began by preventing the fire from spreading along the western flank using backpack fire extinguishers and fire beaters. The Lohnsfeld Fire Department supported these efforts by launching a rapid-response attack along the eastern flank. Once the tanker trucks arrived, they began fighting the fire using the “pump and roll” method, which quickly brought the fire under control. The efforts were also supported by a local farmer who was present and who helped extinguish the fire by tilling the ground.
