In Münchweiler an der Alsenz, mowing work triggered a wildfire covering approximately 2,000 square meters, which was located in the immediate vicinity of a residential area. Fire departments from Münchweiler, Gonbach, Imsbach, Falkenstein, Steinbach, and Winnweiler were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
The first unit to arrive, from Münchweiler, immediately focused on protecting the adjacent residential buildings by deploying two C-hoses. Firefighting operations were carried out by the tanker trucks from the Imsbach, Steinbach, and Winnweiler units using the “pump and roll” method, which allowed the fire to be brought under control quickly. In addition, a drone was deployed to capture aerial overview images and, using its thermal imaging camera, enable targeted mop-up operations. The police were also on the scene.
