The Winnweiler Fire Department was alerted to a reported embankment fire on the A 63 in the direction of Mainz between the Winnweiler and Göllheim interchanges. The TLF 4000 tanker fire engine and the command vehicle (ELW) were initially dispatched to assess the situation and determined that it was not a roadside fire on the highway, but rather that the caller had simply seen a reported Pentecost bonfire, which was located about 50 meters away. Consequently, no action was required on the part of the fire department, and the crews were able to return to the station promptly.
