In Wartenberg, a resident alerted the fire department after noticing smoke coming from his carport, which he was unable to stop on his own. The Wartenberg-Rohrbach and Winnweiler fire departments responded to the scene and determined that the lower part of one of the carport posts was smoldering, causing a slight amount of smoke.
Initially, the firefighters used a small fire extinguisher and inspected the post and the rest of the shelter using a thermal imaging camera. Subsequently, in consultation with the owner, the post was cut down with a chainsaw to prevent the fire from spreading inside. The fire site was also extinguished once more. Afterward, the scene was handed over to the owner.
