The sewer plant called in the fire department for assistance because a connection in a wastewater transfer shaft was leaking, and an elevated concentration of hydrogen sulfide was detected even after the shaft had been ventilated. Consequently, the leak could only be sealed while wearing respiratory protection and an appropriate protective suit.
