The fire departments of Breunigweiler, Sippersfeld, and Winnweiler were called to a traffic accident on the L394 between Breunigweiler and Sippersfeld early Friday evening. The emergency dispatch report indicated that the vehicle had rolled over and that the person inside, while awake and responsive, could not be freed by first responders.

The first responders from the Sippersfeld Fire Department confirmed the details of the report. It was a single-vehicle accident involving a passenger car with one person inside; the vehicle had rolled over and come to rest on its side in a field next to the road. Consequently, the person was trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters immediately began the technical rescue operation while simultaneously providing medical care to the patient. Furthermore, the road was completely closed for the duration of the rescue operations. After the emergency medical services arrived at the scene, they took over the patient’s medical care. The rescue was carried out after the vehicle was secured by removing the roof using hydraulic equipment.

After the patient was placed in the ambulance, the fire department cleaned up small amounts of spilled fuel. Furthermore, in consultation with the police and after the accident report was filed, the vehicle was positioned so that it could subsequently be picked up by a tow truck. After the ambulance and the emergency medical services vehicle (EMS) had departed, the full road closure was lifted and the scene was handed over to the police. The fire department personnel were able to conclude their operation.
