An accident was reported on Highway 63 between Winnweiler and Göllheim, and the fire department, emergency medical services, and a rescue helicopter were dispatched.
As it turned out at the scene, it was a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcyclist. For reasons that are still unclear, the motorcyclist veered off the road, fell, and skidded several meters across the asphalt. His motorcycle skidded about 150 meters further and came to a stop in the left lane. First responders secured the accident scene and attended to the motorcyclist, who appeared to have sustained only minor injuries.
Since the rescue helicopter landed on the highway, it was closed for the duration of the operation. While the emergency physician examined the motorcyclist, the fire department secured the accident scene and the end of the traffic jam and checked the crashed motorcycle for any leaking fluids. The operation was completed shortly after the rescue helicopter took off, and all emergency personnel returned to their stations. The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital for further examination.
