The Winnweiler Fire Department’s rescue unit was dispatched to a traffic accident involving one vehicle on the A 63 in the direction of Mainz. When emergency responders arrived at the Donnersberg parking lot, they found a passenger car in the roadside ditch. The person inside was already being treated by first responders and emergency medical services.
The fire department closed the right lane for the duration of the operation and assisted the emergency medical services in safely extracting the patient from the vehicle while maintaining spinal alignment (to protect her spine). In addition, the vehicle involved in the accident was inspected for leaking fluids, and fire safety measures were ensured. In consultation with the police, the road remained closed until the vehicle was towed away. The patient was transported by ambulance to an appropriate hospital.
