Report
The fire department received an emergency call via the in-vehicle automatic emergency call system (eCall). No car—let alone an accident—could be found at the reported location, so the fire department searched the surrounding area. After a short time, it was determined that someone had accidentally pressed the emergency button in a vehicle, triggering the emergency call. Since the dispatch center was unable to communicate with the vehicle’s occupant—a standard procedure for quickly identifying false alarms—the fire department was consequently alerted to assess the situation on site.
