Report
In Sippersfeld, a 7-month-old baby had been locked inside a vehicle due to its automatic locking mechanism. The Sippersfeld Fire Department, which was on standby due to the weather conditions, arrived on the scene in no time. The rescue fire engine (HLF) from the Winnweiler Fire Department and the ambulance from Winnweiler also responded to the scene.
After initially attempting to open the door without causing damage, a side window was carefully broken, and the child was handed over to the mother unharmed.
NOTE:
So-called “safeguard systems” carry the risk that the vehicle will lock itself automatically if the key is left inside. If there is no one capable of acting inside the vehicle at that moment, that person will be locked out. This measure, originally intended as a safety feature, can become a hazard in such cases.
