Due to the precipitation forecast for the coming days and the water-saturated soil, several critical locations identified in the “Severe Weather” alert and response plan were inspected.
For the most part, the situations were not critical. However, the parking lot under the K4 bridge was evacuated and was also flooded during the night of January 3–4. Buildings in the Winnweiler area were not significantly affected by the Alsenz River.
Starting in the early morning hours of January 4, water levels at Imsweiler (peak: 2.55 cm) and Winnweiler (peak: 1.10 m) began to recede again, remaining just below the 2-year flood mark in each case.
