A forest fire broke out in the “Schillerhain” area of Kirchheimbolanden. Thanks to the prompt response to the alarm, the fire was quickly brought under control by the Kirchheimbolanden municipal association’s emergency response teams.
From Winnweiler, the swap-body vehicle (WLF) carrying the water supply roll-off container (10,000 liters) and the drone unit provided support. Using the thermal imaging camera mounted on the drone, the surrounding forest was scanned for any potential additional fire hotspots. The drone also assisted in the targeted extinguishing of smoldering embers.
Since there were two fire sites approximately 25 meters apart, arson is suspected. The police are investigating.
