The fire departments in Höringen, Gehrweiler, and Winnweiler were called to a garage fire in Höringen this morning. Upon the Höringen Fire Department’s arrival, it was quickly determined that this was not a full-scale fire, but rather that only a slight amount of smoke was visible between the two vehicles inside. It turned out that a resident had already taken steps to extinguish the fire, thereby preventing a more serious incident. The resident was subsequently examined by emergency medical personnel to rule out smoke inhalation; fortunately, there were no symptoms of smoke inhalation.

Firefighters then removed the remaining burning debris from the garage—which was believed to have come from a trash can—and doused it with water once more. In addition, the garage was inspected using a thermal imaging camera to ensure that the fire would not reignite. Once these measures were completed, the scene was handed over to the police, and the firefighters returned to their station.
