Report
The Donnersberg District drone unit was dispatched to Ramsen to respond to a fire involving two adjacent buildings. The fire, which is believed to have started in a car or carport, spread to two adjacent buildings.
Equipped with a thermal imaging camera, the drone was able to assist in firefighting from the air, as it allowed for the targeted extinguishing of fire hotspots and smoldering embers, eliminating the need for a massive water deployment. This made it possible to regularly document the success of the firefighting efforts and discuss next steps with on-site commanders.
A total of four people were injured in the fire. Three suffered from smoke inhalation (also known as smoke intoxication), and one other person sustained an ankle injury. Since the houses are uninhabitable, all 11 people had to be provided with care until temporary housing was arranged.
